Why Create This Website?

Silhoutte SunsetI am not a public person.  Sure, I have Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc., but I have never been a person who shares much on these platforms.  I’m not one to share much information at all, to be honest.  I have had a few of my close friends tell me that me throughout my life how hard it was to get to know me and have me open up to them.  I am just very private.

So why, then, you ask, do I make something like this very public and personal website?  I have thought about this question a lot and because of who I am, I felt it was an important answer to share with you.

My birthday is tomorrow and I will be turning 28.  Along with this age has come a bit of an ego death of sorts.  A few months ago, I left my corporate job and set out to change the trajectory of my life.  And change it has! Like most growth periods, it has not been the most comfortable of times.  I have learned many lessons and I am not even close of being done.  One of the most important of these lessons has been that I need to embrace all the differences I have in me and really start sharing them with the world.  In other words, I found I have a voice.

I know that may sound strange – of course I have a voice! – but it never occurred to me that my voice was worth something in the world.  I am different than a lot of people- my viewpoints, opinions, and gifts are not the norm.  I have felt and known this for most of my life.  It’s not a sad statement.  Lonely at times, sure, but not sad.  I’ve love my individuality and it has allowed me to truly appreciate it in others too.  What finally clicked, though, was that others must feel the same out there in the world.

One of my closest friends shared with me recently that she feels it is a requirement of her to share her talents and gifts with the world and that requirement dictates what she does with her life.  It was one of the most brilliant statements I have ever heard.   I knew in that moment that if I were to live true to that statement, I would have to finally share myself with the world.  And this website was born!

No, not everyone is going to like what I have here.  In fact, it may not make sense to most people.  But that is really good with me.  I’m not doing this for everybody- I am doing this for the people who need it or can find value in my experiences the way I have found it in so many others throughout my life.

I made this website to honor my voice.  It is not perfect, but it is ME.  I am excited to start this new stage of my life.  I just have to say, it is really great to finally meet you, world.  Let’s see where this thing goes.
